Greater Manchester’s Plan for Homes, Jobs and the Environment

Greater Manchester Spatial Framework revised draft January 2019

This document has been re-written to reinforce the ambition to bring forward brownfield land, reduce the net loss of Green Belt and provide stronger protection for Greater Manchester’s important environmental assets.

This is the plan to manage growth so that GM is a better place to live, work and visit. It outlines the following:

  • How GM should develop up to the year 2037
  • The amount of new development in terms of housing, offices and industry and warehousing that will take place within the ten districts
  • The protection of important environmental assets
  • Sites for employment and housing out the urban area
  • The support in place to deliver the key infrastructure such as transport and utilities
  • The new Green Belt boundary for GM
